Coronavirus: Orange County Reported 26 New Cases And Three New Deaths As Of May 24




The OC Health Care Agency reported 26 new cases of the coronavirus as of Monday, May 24, increasing the total number of cases there have been in the county to 255,048.

There have been 633 new cases of the coronavirus reported in the past 14 days.

The agency reported three new deaths as of Monday. In Orange County, 5,052 people have died of COVID-19.

The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates or gathered through the course of case investigations and can take weeks to process. The most recent death recorded was on May 10.

There were 76 people with confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Orange County hospitals on Monday.

The county update said 3,870,837 tests have been given for the coronavirus since testing began locally, with at least 3,790 new tests since the previous report.

Of the cumulative 5,052 deaths reported from the virus, 1,112 were skilled nursing facility residents, 565 were in assisted living facilities, one was an O.C. Jail inmate and 11 were listed as homeless.

It is estimated 248,522 people have recovered from the virus as of Monday. The count of people who has recovered is based on the prior 28-day cumulative case count.
